One of the long-term projects I have been working on is a mushroom grow box for a Denver-based startup called Forest Floor. I have done contracting work for them as a design, manufacturing, and electrical engineer, meaning I have worked on most aspects of this project at least to an extent. I currently have a few NDA's around this project and can't disclose too much, however I will share what I can.
This product is focused on creating a stable environment able to adapt to different types of mushrooms or plants living in it, meaning that the temperature, air humidity, CO2, air flow, and light cycles all have to be highly monitored and maintained.
For mechanical engineering aspects I have worked on the water storage system and the overall design of the prototypes. Currently the only product for sale is the Model 101 which is what I would call a high level prototype. This is made of acrylic panels and I have been the main manufacturing engineer making sure the design is strong enough and cutting it all either on the laser cutter or on the CNC router. For electrical, I have worked with all the sensors, and have tested them to ensure reliability. I also created a custom PCB that integrates to all systems of the Box and has been designed with additional features for debugging and trouble shooting.
Check out forest floors website here. As a startup they are constantly updating it, but it should help give more of an idea of the product. Below are a few photos from the website as I cannot show more than that.
