Car Bed

I am a very avid hiker, camper, explorer, and I love to spend my free time outside. So most weekends or breaks I end up traveling somewhere new to hike and would sleep in a tent near my car. After enough of this I found myself wanting an easier way to sleep as setting up a tent was inefficient and buying any sort of van or trailer was expensive and impractical. 

So I decided to design and build a custom two person bed that would fit in the back of my car. I designed it to be made of 3 main pieces to allow for ease of setting it up, and to allow it to stack and fit in the trunk of the car when the rear seats aren't lowered. I made the bed entirely from plywood to keep the cost down and covered it in carpeting to protect the air mattress on top. The bed is also specifically designed to fit my water tank as that was an important item to have. Since building this bed, I have used it extensively (100+ nights) and still love it. Although not one of my most difficult projects it has been one of my favorites due to how much I use it.
