For my Advanced Product Design class, I was tasked with creating a feasible product to bring to market. My group decided we wanted to create something for people who work in their garage. We conducted a series of interviews and found that people want a cheap and efficient way to store tools. We constructed a set of pretotypes, and ran another round of interviews. From this we narrowed into a final design while continuing to interview and survey the market. Additionally we had to conduct user clinics and make our product accessible for specific groups, and determine how we could target our product at more general groups. We ended with a tool storage carousel called the "Tool Master" that was electrically operated with a switch to allow for efficient and easy to access storage.Â
From this project I learned a lot about how companies iterate designs based on feedback and how to incorporate and combine different ideas. I also improved my leadership, and communication skills, as I worked as the project manager for our team. I am proud of how our team was able to combine different feedback into compromised design choices that people were happy about.
