For my product design class, my team was tasked to create a viable product with a business plan and a medium fidelity prototype. The product we created was the Hot Seat, an aftermarket installable remote car seat heater. We decided to create this product due to very few people knowing of similar products on the market meaning there is a large potential, we increased our value by making the seat remote start so your car can be warm when you get in. I personally worked on the electronics of the device, creating and soldering a custom PCB, programing an Arduino Uno, and creating external circuitry for the receiver. The final product functioned perfectly and is still being used in my teammates car.
From this project, I learned a lot about electronics, wireless signaling, and how a business draws in customers and succeeds. I also improved my CAD, leadership and PCB design skills.
Below is our final poster presentation and a few images of the car seat heater, remote start remote, and battery receiver.
